The Parable of the Nearsighted Little Birds

One of my main hangups is still how it would be received if I outed myself as even being interested in spiritual matters, let alone developing my intuitive skills.

Typically I seem to receive guidance through synchronicities and metaphors, if not outright concepts in full sentences boiling up from my subconscious. No voices (usually), no visions or ghostly touchs on the neck.

My wife feeds the birds outside our kitchen window by scattering seed and breadcrumbs. She spends a lot of time in the kitchen, and enjoys watching the birds and squirrels feeding. A few days ago, she mentioned that there’s one particular kind of bird, a very petite gray and white variety, that she thinks must be nearsighted because she often sees them pecking at the snow where there is no seed or crumb. I immediately said, “Perhaps they see something you don’t”. It wasn’t until hours later that I realized how much like that is my predicament. But the small birds don’t care whether anyone thinks they’re half-blind or not. They see what they see, and they continue to hunt for it no matter what. I like that story.

  1. Well, I was a mere 30 years old at the time I said that. In the intervening years, I have experienced numerous cycles of death and rebirth.

    It’s all good. 🙂

You’re being talked to. All you need to do is to maybe learn how to listen and understand better.

“I wonder if that will be my time of death.” Oh, please!

You know you need to turn that around; again, listen. Death? Birth? I wonder…

  3. For at least 30 years, I have been looking at the clocks at precisely 11:11. So much so that I once said to my bff, “I wonder if that will be my time of death.” That was when Eric was a baby and he’s almost 21. hmm…

Yup…listen to yourself because your own voice is the only one your guides have.

Insight comes when you least expect it…sometimes from the smallest events…I like that story too…:)
