Glad you asked. 🙂
When our spirits first enter this dimension and we’re “born” into a body, we are at first still totally connected to Spirit, but not to the physical world. As infants we need to learn to use this new vehicle we’re inhabiting; we wiggle our toes, we gaze in wonderment at our hands, we figure out how to pick things up and to walk. Later on, we learn what emotions are and how to control them (or not); and still later, we learn how to use logic and reason to put our minds to use.
All this learning is a necessary thing, of course. But in the process, we’re so busy figuring out how to operate in the world that we forget how to operate in the higher dimensions. This too is a natural process; the veil is lowered so that we have to put effort into finding our way back home, so to speak. This is part of how we develop and advance our souls.
So now we might become frustrated. We know there’s something more; we know there’s a better way that we’re missing, but we can’t seem to remember how to access the database that will show us the way. Again, effort (not struggle) is required.
Have you been able to first dig deep enough to find out exactly what you’re telling the universe that you really want? As in the blog post previous to this one, look around you – you made all that. If you’re sending out a frequency of frustration, frustration is what you”ll get. Send out a sense of lack, and guess what bouces back (hey, I’m a poet!… 🙂 ).
As for finding the “way”: intuitive guidance never insists, but it’s persistant. Is there anything you’ve been thinking you should do for the past, oh, say 20 years but never got around to it?
Intuitive guidance is simple: “Go read Michael’s blog.” Why did you come and read this post? Why do you keep coming here to read these posts? Now, that’s just an example. Not saying you’ll find your answers here; but, the wisdom you seek will come like that. It won’t unfold before you like a choir of angels and show you what to do for the next 20 years. It’ll be gently suggesting what you should do in the next 5 minutes, or later today.
Intuitive guidance is immediate. It’s like the headlights on your car – you may only be able to see 100 feet ahead, but you still get where you’re going. Another good analogy used by my own teacher is the GPS system. You tell it where you want to go, and it gives you turn-by-turn directions. It says, “turn left here”.
It’s not up to you to tell your inner wisdom how you want to get somewhere; you tell it where you want to go, and it tells you step-by-step how to get there. It may not make sense to you in the moment, but that’s OK.
I’ll give an example: A few weeks ago I had a thought that I should go have lunch with a friend of mine. He works for a small town about 45 minutes from here as a sort of city planner. He’s the oldest friend I have left and we always have a good time when we meet up. Still, I’m not in the habit for “doing lunch” with anybody, especially on a weekday. I’m more of a stop-at-the-house-after-work-for-a-beer kind of guy.
But I got this nudge to go have lunch with him. So I get to his office (where I’d never been before), and it’s in an old brick building near the town square. I ring and he buzzes me in.
His office is on the second floor. The top of the stairs opens into a large open room and I find myself in the middle of a very nice art gallery, full of great stuff. My friend comes out of his office off to the side, which the town rents from the art association that owns the building. He says, “Notice anything?” As usual, I go “duh?”.
We walk around looking at the nice paintings and jewelry and carvings, etc. Finally we get to a particular display and he says, “Here’s the only metal sculpture in the whole place.” It was a very nice collection of fanciful bird-like musicians made of old plow teeth, rebar and pipe, sanded and painted.
“Duh!” says I. I’ve been making my copper sculptures for a while now and sold a few on the internet (The Manifest Concept) but it’s been slow going. So here we go….but that’s not the end of it.
While my buddy finished up a meeting that was running late, I continued to wander the gallery. There was workspace in the back, and another large room with a horseshoe-shaped counter and stools and some tables, apparantly meant for social gatherings. I spoke with a nice volunteer lady who informed me that the club was beginning to give pottery lessons since they’d just acquired a small kiln and wheel.
As it happens, I have a kiln and a homebuilt wheel in my shop collecting dust since my fine-artsy daughter moved to Portland. Another synchronicity – I’m in the process of donating the equipment and joining the association this week.
But that’s not all. At lunch that day, I was telling my pal how I’d like to give talks…lectures…classes…whatever, as a part of my Soul Relignment practice. Thing is, I’ve never given a real speech in my life, and before I had my own clearing done I’d have eaten a box of raw liver before I’d get up in front of people and act as though I knew what Iwas talking about. Since my clearing, the fear isn’t nearly as bad but still, with no experience and nothing to base any sort of confidence on, i was still hesitant.
My friend has no problems at all in this regard, but instead of pooh-poohing my fears, he thought a second then said, “OK, well you saw the social room next to the gallery? The one with the horseshoe bar?”.
“Duh?” says I.
“So what you do is, you don’t give a speech. You sit around a horseshoe bar with some new friends you’ve become comfortable with, and you have a conversation!”
Duh!!
And so it goes. As I see it, in a month or so I’ll be going to the art association and doing some volunteer work, getting to know people, cluing them into my spiritual practice, finding out just how nuts they think I really am, and all that. I honestly don’t know. Because there’s no way my puny mind, or yours, can possibly know what comes next.
Only our Higher Selves and Guides know what’s truly possible and what would best serve us on our path. It’s up to us to listen to the quiet suggestions and maybe once in a while to use our free will, get up off our asses and act on the nudges we get, and trust that we are being lead to a good place, no matter how dark the path seems. Don’t worry, they’re not going to let you fall off a cliff in the dark – but if we choose to lay there quivering in fear, that’s where we’ll stay.
