The Universe is Not Your Mamma…

     Like a lot of people, I’ve been trying to refine this whole Law of Attraction thing.  We all want to manifest all the fulfillment and abundance into our lives possible – remember, we are the creators of our own reality.  Nothing we are or have has happened by chance.  Our choices, through the power of our free will and life force, have made life whatever it is for us.

     This is certainly true regarding our actions.  We take an initiative, say apply to a job, and we either get it or we don’t.  If we don’t there was something misaligned about the process; it wasn’t the right job for us, or our previous experience wasn’t a match, or we wore the wrong clothes that day.  Those are physical actions and choices we made that lead to a certain outcome.

     On a more esoteric level, our attitude apart from any physical action also determines outcomes.  Whatever flavor of energy we are radiating out into the ether, that’s what will be reflected back to us as Divine Creators.  No matter how well we dressed for that job interview, or how cool our resume’, if we really didn’t want to do that kind of work, chances are we’d still not get the position – our energies simply would not have been aligned with that outcome.

     And, it gets even more complicated when we dig a little deeper.  Suppose we had the good resume’ and the right clothes and smiled a mile wide, and charmed the pants off the interviewer and didn’t really want the job…but we expected to get it because we expect to do work that makes us miserable?  In that case, what we’re projecting to the universe is that we want to be miserable, so in order to make our “dreams” come true, we get the job.  See how that works?

    So, the crux of the problem becomes going deep inside and finding out what it is you really want.  Not only that, but we need to look far enough ahead, beyond this instant, to figure that out.  Did we want the job to make a lot of money?  Fine; but if we want a lot of money, and in our heart of hearts we really don’t want to do the particular work we think will provide that money, what you have is a set of conflicting frequencies.  They will cancel one another out and not much of anything will happen, frankly.

   Although Source / Spirit is all-loving and ever-mindful of our every need, it’s not your Mom.  It’s not going to give you what you think you want, or what you think you should want, or what’s best for you…not even what you “deserve”.  Nope.  Because of your free will and your own power of creation, you’re going to get whatever it is you say should be.

    Once you’ve become self-aware enough to really know what it is you want, and once you’ve put the effort into learning how to understand the nudges and synchronicities provided by your Higher Self and Spirit Guides (who, trust me, really really want you to get there), life becomes not only pleasant but joyful and effortless.

   As an exercise, try working it backwards – sometimes reverse engineering is a good tool.  Take a good hard look at the life you’ve created, and try to get to the bottom of what actions and attitudes you have been projecting into the world that brought you to this point.  If you like what you see, great.  If not, you do have the ability to figure out what needs changing.  You’ll have to, because your Mamma isn’t going to do it for you!
