2012 and your Place in the New World

There’s a bit of talk going around these days about the year 2012 and whatarmageddon1 significance it might have.  The major cite for all the hubub appears to be that the Mayan calendar ends that year, but there are numerous other examples of sources  past and present pointing to some kind of change occurring at that time.

A lot of people assume, of course, that it means only yet another stupid “prophesy” wherein, say, a few hundred people around the world will lock themselves into their well-stocked bunkers, spend a few months praying fervently and furiously, and come blinking out into the sunlight a few months later looking as foolish as a millenial alarmist did back around Jan 2, 2000.  And they’re right…there are people preparing for the Big Badness.  More power to them.

However, in my constant research and reading I’ve come to a more encouraging “conclusion”.  I put that in quotes because, as the Bible says, no one  knows the hour or the day.  No one I’ve read, not a single writer, purports to know exactly what might happen in 2012, if anything.  Oh, I’m sure there are some… but I don’t normally spend much time reading people who claim to know anything “exactly“, because they’re invariably wrong.  So I go with 1.) what sounds reasonable within my own framework, and 2.) what the general consensus is amongst non-alarmists.

It appears that, in what I consider to be the most enlightened circles, 2012 is shaping up to be more of a shift in mass consciousness on this planet than anything else.  In a nutshell, it’s possible that those who have been making an effort to advance spiritually will be greatly accelerated on that path, which will produce societal shifts toward the energy streams of Light, Love, and Truth.  Those who reject this new paradigm will be (to borrow a phrase from neo-Christian Hollywood), Left Behind.

I normally don’t like to get into politics because of the negativity it produces, but the election of Barack Obama appears to possibly be a precursor to this shift.  I believe the previous U.S.. administration (as well as their supposed “foes”, the terrorist organizations) was put into place to bring all the rats out of the woodwork and provide a tangible, visible picture of what the old ways really represent:  War.  Torture.  Greed.  Corruption in the financial and credit industries.  Disregard for the environment.  Imposition of religious doctrine.  You get the picture.  Now we have Obama who provides a contrast to that dismal picture.  Reconciliation, common sense, forgiveness, humility.

Of course, there are those who resist this change.  They’re unfortunately stuck in the old world because of stubbornness and the apparent inability to think past their noses.  Disregarding even common sense, they want the “side” they’ve chosen to win.  A prime example is the occasional letter to the editor or essay I see about how the new U.S. administration is “responsible” for the current economic meltdown.  Say what?  Obama must indeed be the Antichrist – who else could be so effective at causing so much mischief in only 3 months!?  Of course, none of this would have happened had the previous circle of geniuses remained in power…the ones who spent a lotof money on a senseless war while giving tax breaks to billionaires, etc.  Please.

All this highly-visible stuff has provided a sharp contrast and a clear picture of what choice there is to be made.  Either you’re going to cling to the old (which position doesn’t look real hot right now), or you’re going to go forward and be a part of what could be relative heaven on earth.

I believe the aforesaid economic meltdown is serving an extremely fortuitous purpose.  Even the most mundane writers and thinkers have noted the shift away from rampant materialism.  People are re-thinking what they need in order to live a happy life.  Lacking a job, many are lending their time and skills to volunteerism for good causes.  It has spurred spiritual crises in some people, causing them to more fervently look for answers that weren’t provided before, or that they had been too distracted to even wonder about.  To me, these are very encouraging signs of that shift in mass consciousness.  It won’t happen in an instant.  But it will happen.

In musings around what one’s own personal part in all this might be, I think the answers to that are already inside.  For my part, I’m not particularly interested in joining the Sierra Club or climbing Mount Shasta to have a mystical experience – I wouldn’t make it past the snack kiosk.  I wouldn’t be real good at wiping runny noses in a daycare (too gross), or building Habitats for Humanity – my building days are over (although I could be a hell of a supervisor).  None of those things suit me.  But what does appeal to me and fit my talents and personality is my desire to help others to wake up and be a part of the new world of possibilities.

Not so long ago, I thought I’d like to go back to school and get enough formal education to be officially considered a therapist or counselor.  But I soon realized that, given my age, I’d probably be senile before I got my cap and gown to drool over.  As well, someone who I look to as my own counselor, mentor and confessor told me that I was already beyond the point where that sort of thing would benefit me.  Not being the sort to be easily discouraged, I then needed to find another path – which brought me eventually to becoming a certified Soul Realignment practitioner.

I feel that this is the best way I can serve.  Thousands, perhaps millions of people are waking up.  But as they awaken, the dust of many liftimes remains in their eyes.  Old attachments, hurts, misconceptions, programming…all serve to impede their ability to truly step into their own authentic Selves and manifest the power they possess to change the world.  As a practitioner and a Blueprint Deliverer, this is how I intend to serve.  I’m not so much a healer as a Fixer.  One at a time, I’m going to repair whatever damage I find that people need to get rid of  in order for them to advance and help heal the world.  I’m going to give them someone who cares what happens to them.  I’m going to listen to them when they need it, and talk to them when it’s right to do.  And, by God, I’m going to fix them the best I can, the way I’ve fixed a hell of a lot of car engines and lawn mowers and broken windows and plumbing fixtures in the course of my lifetime.  🙂

What are you going to do?  Will you remain stuck in the old ways, going to a job you despise every day and bitching about the boss behind his back?  Will you continue to hold to the idea that it’s every man and woman for themselves, or will you understand that we are One?  What particular gifts can you bring to the table that only  you can bring, and without which we all will be lacking a tiny bit of something good?  I assure you that all the answers are inside of you, but in order to discern them you’ll need to be completely honest with yourself, accept yourself, and embrace yourself completely and totally.  I wish you well in that endeavor, because I surely don’t want to miss out on the good you can bring us all.

Thank you Michael you know how to cheer a person up when they’re down. Well, I forgot to wish you and everyone on your blog a happy 4th of July.

  2. Sounds good. You can serve yourself and others at the same time…they’re really the same thing anyhow. As you alignment with Divine Love increases, you will be more able to love yourself and others as well. It’s automatic.

This was one of your heartfelt essays, it completely resonated with me especially when you said “will you continue to hold to the ideat that it’s every man and woman for themselves, or will you understand that we are one?” At one point I was so caught in that frame of thinking that no one cared , people are selfish from family members to friends, so on and so on. You know the sad song no one cares about me boo hu hu but I got over it , now don’t get me wrong, I still revert to the sad song but it doesn’t take control over me like it did before and that within it self is a start to a new beginning. I look at everyone as individuals now and I don’t judge or criticize people anymore- do they get me mad, of course, but it’s different now , now I am able to look at the big picture and get over it. I speak up for myself , I’m working on being in the moment and it’s keeping me grounded and focus on me and what I so much desire to become.
